The owner came to introduce himself personally and then passed the menu/suggestions according to specific dietary requirements. The food was great and the young waiters were attentive. I look forward to returning in the near future and recommending it to my friends.

Two of us went on a rainy mid week evening. The dash through the rain was well worth the effort. Their menu is one of the most interesting I have seen. The imagination of the chefs is absolutely wonderful. The very friendly staff welcomed us and showed us to our table. The only criticism I would have is the table setting is a bit close with a table right next door separated by a large pot plant. As it turned out no one was seated there anyhow so it was fine. Our meals were absolutely superb up to the standard of any restaurant I have been to. Presentation was like Master Chef stuff. (A cooking competition TV program here in NZ) For example my wife order a duck entre that was lightly smoked served with a sorbet. When it came out the duck was in a glass dome filled with smoke. The taste was beautiful. I ordered a seafood chowder that came with a tempura prawn and ciabatta with salsa-Verde and raw kingfish. It was presented with the chowder in a metal contraption of a bowl with the ciabatta etc. underneath. It tasted as good as it looked. The mains were the same standard. Presented extremely well and cooked to perfection. Price wise it is about what I would expect. $20 entr&eacute;es and $36 mains where the most expensive. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I had read a review for Chikos ages ago and hadn&#39;t made it there yet. Last night was our first time. Pulling up into a packed carpark i looked at the outside and thought..... Ooops this could be a mistake. We were meeting friends so forged on. Our booked table was ready (you must pre book to ensure a table), although I think they moved us from the cute booth to a table when they saw the height of my partner. Drinks menu came out and we ordered just your standard fare. Beer wine non alcoholic. The menus came out. What a delicious menu on offer. There was a chefs menu which two of our party had, duck entree, chicken main and cervena main, i had hot ladle chowder and salmon main, and my partner, pork buns and beef main. The entrees came out and wow! The were beautifully plated, my chowder was huge and it tasted amazing! I would choose this again. The duck was in its own little glass bowl thing filled with smoke, it looked spectacular, the pork buns they didn&#39;t look as flash. The mains arrived and again looked great, they all had the flowery, decorative slices of veges on top like bouquets. Visually they are really pretty. The cervena and chicken went down a treat, my salmon was cooked perfectly although i didn&#39;t like the flavour of the puree (personal taste), my partner thought the beef could have been better. Overall we were very happy with our meal. Dessert is good they bring you over a selection and you get to see what you will get, you pick from those. I didn&#39;t eat dessert but the baileys creme br&ucirc;l&eacute;e was a table favourite! I will definitely come here again. For me there is an awful lot of pork in the mains, like there might only be two items that don&#39;t have pork in them, so i will just pick from the entree menu!
